I wanted to start off my first real Indonesia post with lodging, because that will probably be your next step after booking flights and planning a getaway to this magical country. One thing that I absolutely loved about my stay was that every single hotel/hostel was beautiful, and relatively cheap. I guarantee that it will be hard for you to decide where to stay because everything looks beautiful and there are so many options. Hopefully this post narrows it down for you, if you come across the places I stayed at during my travels. I have personally never stayed a hostel before, but while doing my research, I read several articles saying to try out at least one in Bali. Vacations are all about trying new things and being adventurous right? So I figured… why not?!

Padang Padang Breeze – Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia: Hostel

~$34 USD/night

Very beautiful little hostel.  We had a few issues while checking in because our flight landed at midnight, and we assumed that we could get our rooms at 2 am. They do not have people working there overnight, so we had to find a last minute hotel to book until we could check in. It has a very jungle/tree-house vibe which was a really fun experience. The food and drinks at the hostel restaurant were really good! We ordered quesadillas, fries, and tempeh burgers. Uluwatu is a very hilly beach town, and this hostel was located right at the top of a hill, so finding taxi’s/transportation was a little difficult. I recommend always asking the reception desk to book cars in advance so you aren’t waiting until last minute. The rooms were very big and spacious, but the bathroom was a little sketchy. Overall, it was a great experience and the $34 a night is a very accurate value for what you get.

Semabu Hills Hotel – Nusa Penida, Indonesia: Hotel

~$108 USD/night

We kind of booked this hotel last minute, and it was the only one available at the time. It worked out in our favor because we really enjoyed staying here. The staff is SO friendly. I was emailing them prior to our trip and they made accommodations for our ferry tickets to and from Bali, and our shuttle service from the dock to the hotel and back.  They also offered to take us to our choice of activities on the island for an additional fee, so we booked it through them because if you don’t know how to ride a scooter, you will 100% need a guide with you. I also requested our room to be on the bottom floor leading out to the infinity pool, which they happily made possible for us. The room and bathroom were great… bonus points! We really enjoyed hanging out at the restaurant because they have a ½ off drinks happy hour, not to mention their spaghetti was just amazing. The infinity pool was great and there is a little hut in the middle which is super cute for photos, but there was one downside… not such a great view. Overall, I highly recommend staying here!

White Cubes Villa – Ubud, Bali, Indonesia: Villa

~$106 USD/night

These cube villas are so cool and trendy right now. It was kind of difficult for us to find them because they are not located on the street. You have to get out and walk through a huge rice field to get to the cubes.  I mean, at your first glance, these cubes are incredible. We booked one for 5 people, so it had 2 rooms with our own private pool in the middle, and a little terrace on the side. Each room had 2 floors with spiral staircases, its own kitchen, and its own bathroom. They are built in a way that is very appealing and “different”. The bedroom walls were are all glass, so all you see are the beautiful colors of the rice fields and flowers. The bottom floor looks more like a little cottage. The bathroom its very pretty and has stones/tiles everywhere. I’m giving this a 7/10 because there was basically never any hot water, so showers were really painful.  Also, I bought a SIM card so my data was working, but my friends had issues connecting to the WiFi during our whole stay there.  However, it’s kind of understandable considering the location of it being in the middle of a rice field. Overall I’m really happy about it because it felt so peaceful staying in middle of the rice fields and experiencing a modern type of villa. I do recommend staying here at least for one night.

Kosta Hostel – Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia: Hostel

~$15 USD/night

My Rating: 10/10

To be honest, this hostel was my favorite place that I stayed at. It didn’t feel like a hostel at all, besides the fact that you may be put in a room with people you don’t know. We chose the type of room that was co-ed and had a shower in our room, because I wasn’t ready to bathe in a communal shower. The rooms are nice in size and the bathrooms in the rooms are really big. They are built to look very industrial, with polished gray floors and unfinished ceilings. The hostel itself is located in a quiet area of Seminyak, so it’s not super busy. I especially love the decor and general ambiance of it. They have cute little swings put up everywhere and also a huge pool, but we didn’t make use out of it because the beaches are so much better.  We stayed here for several nights and had SEVERAL meals at their restaurant. I’m not joking- we probably tried every single thing on the menu… it was so good! This hostel deserves a 10/10 because I just didn’t feel like I was staying at a typical hostel.

Alright guys… there you have it! These are all of my honest reviews. Nothing in this post was sponsored so please take that into consideration when booking your stay in Indonesia! Please email me or find me on Instagram for any specific questions, or comment with them below! 😊
