Dark Chocolate Snickerdoodle Poptarts
Megha Patel
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I KNOW that you guys are on the hunt for a quick and easy treat for your significant other… one that looks complicated and tastes delicious, but is prepped, baked & cleaned up after within an hour. Dark Chocolate Snickerdoodle Poptarts are definitely a mouthful to say, but your mouth will appreciate them – pinky promise ♥
I made poptarts using pie crust YEARS ago, and they turned out amazing. I haven’t made them since because I am a sucker for strawberry/blueberry poptarts from vending machines, especially when they are readily available for me. However, I recently found out that Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts have gelatin in them, which literally hurt my soul. So I figured it was time that I recreate my poptart recipe so I can complete my cravings.
I like this recipe EXTRA for Valentine’s Day because Snickerdoodle’s are such classic and tasty cookies that are made around this time of the year. Everyone loves a good layer of cinnamon and sugar, which is exactly what we have in this snickerdoodle glaze!
The reason why I chose to use dark chocolate in this recipe is because the glaze is already made out of sugar, so I wanted to balance it out with chocolate that wasn’t as sweet. Flava Naturals has some of the tastiest chocolate I have ever tried! I especially love that all of their products are gluten free, non-gmo, kosher and vegetarian. They also have so many different flavors/varieties and I looooveeee them all. I mean… I think you all know my relationship status with chocolate by now.
Using pie crust makes these poptarts super flakey and a nice golden brown when they are baked. It’s also so convenient to buy ready-made pie crust at the grocery store but feel free to make your own if you have the time! (I’m obviously lazy so I didn’t)
You can store these poptarts in an airtight container for up to a week. Warm them up in the toaster before eating because they taste 10 times more amazing when hot… Add a scoop of your favorite ice cream on top if you want to get crazy – I recommend it 🙂
