I AM FINALLY READY… TO SHARE MY MOROCCO ITINERARY WITH YOU GUYS. I am so so so sorry that it took me so long to post on this. I started writing this so many times and re-drafted it about 39272788 times. It was so hard for me to put all of my thoughts into a legit post without it being all scattered because I just had too much information on this amazing trip that I took. It took a little push from my Instagram friends asking me to include more travel posts! Thanks for the motivation 🙂 I still had issues condensing everything and I didn’t want to sacrifice only choosing certain pictures or talking vaguely, so this is the first half of my trip!  Second part will be posted soon!  This is specifically on my personal itinerary, so you will also want to check out my post on Morocco: 10 Things You Must Know, which is more of a guide on what you should read up on before you visit.

SO, LETS GET STARTED!

Saturday One night in the Capital City: Rabat

Our flight got us to the Casablanca Airport at 10 am. First thing’s first: buy a sim card at the airport. They are extremely cheap, equivalent to about $15 USD and lasted my entire trip, and I was constantly on my phone using data. After negotiating with a few taxi drivers, we were on our way to Rabat, which took 1.5 hours and cost ~77 USD. Needless to say, the Sofitel Jardin Des Roses  is nothing short of spectacular. We were exhausted from our flight so we lounged all day, got our hair done at the spa, and ordered some drinks at one of the hotel restaurants before bed.

Sunday & Monday Searching the souks of Fes

Sunday morning, we woke up and had a quick bite at the hotel before leaving for our flight to Fes. Click here to get the full details on my 2 nights spent in Fes!

Tuesday Marrakech adventures begin!

We took a 7:50 am flight to Marrakech from Fes. The hotel was about 20 minutes away from the airport, so the transportation aspect was fairly easy. The moment we got to the Sofitel Palais Imperial, we were shocked at the beauty. I mean, we saw pictures and obviously booked this hotel for a reason… but wow. There were chandeliers everywhere, fresh flower petals, tea being served constantly and gorgeous artwork on the walls. Since we had an early morning flight, we were exhausted and decided to spend a relaxing day at the hotel. 99% of the time, I let my hair air dry, but Africa hates my hair so we decided that I would stick to blowouts for this trip. The spa did a great job on my hair and the rest of the day was spent having snacks and drinks at the hotel, with an obvious side of girl talk. We were craving Indian so we went to a restaurant called “Bombay”. The restaurant was big and clean, and the food was exactly what we were craving!

Wednesday Night in the Sahara!

This day was the HIGHLIGHT of my trip, and probably the highlight of my life. Everything about this was a unique experience. We woke up at 5 am, got into our SUV with a driver, and were en route to the Sahara Desert. A one-way trip to the Sahara Desert from Marrakech is 10 hours, with the first 3 hours being windy roads up and down mountains. It’s such a gorgeous view when driving through the mountains, but definitely made me nauseous for the majority of it. We finally arrived, 10 hours later, after stopping for a few snacks on the way. We were camping, or should I say glamping, at Merzouga Luxury Desert Camp in what seemed like 110-degree weather. (This is primarily why September is the best month because anytime earlier will be even hotter, and any time later would end up getting really cold at night). The camp was set up so nice with traditional berber rugs covering the sand. There were hammocks set up under a couple of trees for those of us who needed shade (me). We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the outskirts of our camp, taking photos, chillin’ with the camels, and watching the sunset.  They also have options for sand surfing which sounds like super fun if you’re in for that! For dinner, our camp hosted a really nice candlelight meal for us. Unfortunately, there weren’t any vegetarian options so our snacks that we picked up on the way came into great use. Hunger wasn’t even an issue because at this point, it was dark outside and when I looked up into the sky, all I could see were thousands of shining stars. It was like our very own planetarium, but better. This experience was one that I can’t compare to any others. Not only did the stars do it for me, but the fact that we were miles into the desert without any artificial factors made this so amazing. It was peaceful, calm, and simply wonderful! After a few hours of stargazing, we enjoyed some hookah while our hosts played some live music for us by a fire. We went to sleep around midnight because we had some pretty exciting plans for the morning!

Stay tuned for part 2 of my Moroccan Adventures! 🙂
