Baked Feta in Spicy Marinara

Thank you Victoria Pasta Sauce for sponsoring this post! Victoria Pasta Sauce is committed to “Ingredients Come First®!”

Hello guys! I’m so excited to share today’s recipe with you because I discovered this dish when I was on my 3 week Tulum trip, and I’ve been craving it ever since! Feta has been the talk of the town lately, so I thought that this is the perfect time to introduce my Baked Feta in Spicy Marinara recipe with you!

Using the RIGHT Marinara Sauce

As you can tell, the key components to this recipe are feta, and marinara sauce… so you don’t want to skimp on quality for either of those. Marinara sauce is something that I love to buy at the store because the Victoria Pasta Sauce brand makes it taste just as authentic as it would if you made it at home. But you know me, and you know that I love my spicy food! I used the Victoria Marinara Sauce and added shallots, garlic, and a ton of crushed red pepper for a kick! To me, this was the perfect level of spice to get things rolling!

Tips on Serving this Dish

This is definitely one of those dishes that you should serve as an appetizer. There is nothing more tasty than sauce, cheese, and bread. I love to toast up some garlic naan and serve it on the side, or you can slice up a baguette and make little crostini out of it! No matter what you use, the highlight is definitely the spicy Victoria Marinara sauce and delicious cheese, so any option works! This is one of those appetizers that work so well at a dinner party or if you want to bring it as a little app to a party that you are attending!

Got any Leftovers?

To be completely honest with you, I made this dish when I was home alone and no one was around to enjoy it with me. With that being said, I did NOT finish it all in one sitting. The next day, I heated it up and spread it on pizza dough, which ended up tasting SO GOOD! The spicy Victoria Marinara and feta combo on pizza was heavenly. Something about Italian food just makes me so excited! If you’re looking for another recipe that uses Victoria Pasta Sauce, check out my Herbed Italian Rice!

Baked Feta in Spicy Marinara
A delicious appetizer that can be served year-round!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup bell peppers (diced medium sized)
  • 1 large shallot (finely diced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1.5 cup Victoria’s Marinara Sauce
  • 8 oz feta
  • parsley (to garnish)

INTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a pan, warm up oil on medium heat. When hot, add the bell peppers. Let them cook for about 1 minute and then add in your shallots.
  3. After another minute or so, add in the garlic and crushed red pepper flakes.
  4. Mix well and pour in your Victoria’s Marinara Sauce. Add salt/black pepper per taste.
  5. When the sauce is warm and cooked through, take it off the stove and pour into an oven safe baking dish.
  6. Add your block of feta right in the middle of the sauce. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, and then broil for 3-5 minutes. Check on it every minute or so when broiling. When it’s charred on the top, that’s when it’s done!
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve with naan or sliced baguette!

NOTES

  • You can always add other veggies if you want in this dish!
  • I love to use any color bell pepper I have laying around the house.
  • Best to serve warm!
