Maggi Masala Fried Rice

Hello friends! I know it’s been a long time since I’ve shared a recipe with you, but this one was definitely worth the wait. This Maggi Masala Fried Rice idea came to me when I was starving one day and craving some fried rice. I decided to throw in veggies, rice, the masala packets, and seasoning. Let me tell you… it tasted delicious! And since so many of you were excited for the recipe, I decided to deliver ASAP!

Using the Maggi Magic Masala Packets

I have been getting the Magic Masala packets at my local Indian grocery store, but you can also find them on Amazon! I love using them when I make regular Maggi noodles because I feel like the tiny packets don’t have enough masala LOL. You can even use the Magic Masala packets as seasoning for fries, soups, or sauces! Overall, they’re just such a good panty essential to have!

Best Rice for Fried Rice

For fried rice like this, I always use Basmati Rice. You want to make sure the rice is cooked to perfection, nice and fluffy, and at least 1-2 days old. If you use rice that was just cooked, it may end up making your dish a little mushy. You can always opt out and use brown rice if you’d like, or quinoa if you want to be a little healthier!

Other Fried Rice Recipes

Fried Rice is so delicious, and it’s one of those comfort foods that I like to eat after a long weekend of junk food. My mom always made it as a lazy meal when we didn’t want to cook, which is why I grew up loving it so much. It’s simple, satisfying, and so flavorful. Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 6 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch hing (asafetida)
  • 3/4 cup bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/4 cup red onion (diced)
  • 1/2 tomato (diced)
  • 1 serrano pepper (diced)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup cooked rice (1-2 days old works best)
  • 2 packets maggi magic masala
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

Instructions

  • Turn your pan on medium low heat. Add oil and wait for it to heat up.
  • Add in the garlic, followed by the crushed red pepper flakes, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing (asafetida).
  • After 30 seconds or so, add in the bell pepper, red onion, tomato, serrano pepper, and ginger. Let everything cook and soften up for about 2 minutes. Add salt & black pepper to taste.
  • Add in your cooked rice, both maggi magic masala packets, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and garam masala. Then mix everything up so all of the flavors combine with the rice.
  • When the rice is coated with the veggies and all spices, it's ready to serve!
  • Garnish with your favorite herbs and serve with a side of plain yogurt!
Notes
  • Using 1-2 day old rice is best for any fried rice recipe, especially this one!
  • I bought the Maggi Magic Masala packets at my local Indian grocery store, but if you can’t find them, you can always use the regular packets of masala that come in the maggi noodles. 1 packet of the Maggi Magic Masala equals about 2 packets from the maggi noodles.
